The title of this blog refers to Atahualpa's response to Pizarro's commands of subordination. To be no man's tributary to me means to fight back and hold what's yours. To recognize that one person's experience shouldn't negate or invalidate another's.
In the face of conquest we offer resistance. In struggle to remember self and history in the face of mestizo uprootedness - trying to write the way to make sense of self and the wonder of how we're still here.
